Standards and codes for relief devices on pressure vessels

Pressure relief device standards and codes are usually followed in the petroleum industry for design of pressure relief valves and other pressure relief devices. A relief valve is commonly used to protect pressure vessels against damage from overpressure. Rupture devices are also sometimes used instead of pressure relief valves.
